Job Title: Progress Development Team Leader

Location: Leeds

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum dependent on experience + 3% flexible benefits + on target bonus of 10%+ contributory pension

We’re now looking for a Progress Development Team Leader to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity to maintain our existing software and debug any issues. While leading and coaching a number of Progress Developers, you will design and implement new features in the application, as per the requirements of the business.

You’ll be responsible for:

•Line management of the progress development team

•Contributing towards existing and future architecture

•Analysis, Design, Specification, Development and Testing of Progress / Openedge code to defined standards and specified deadlines

•Producing Design and Functional specifications as needed for technical documentation

•Developing, customising, enhancing, unit test the source code and conduct integration testing

•Closely working with the Development, QA, Release Management and Infrastructure teams

•Producing high quality solutions within time and budget

•Undertaking and managing various development projects and ensure that these are implemented to agreed timescales

•Suggesting areas for improvement within internal processes along with possible solutions

•Ensuring that development standards and conventions are adhered to throughout all project

You’ll need to evidence the following qualifications, skills and experience:


•Hands on experience with Progress 4GL/ABL GUI programming language

•Experience in Programming and Analysis using Progress /Openedge

•Use of Progress OpenEdge Architect, OpenEdge Studio, Appbuilder, GUI for.NET, Web Services

•Ability to motivate and mentor developers

•Experience of developing enterprise level applications

•Experience of working within a structured Software Development/Delivery team

•Good interpersonal communication skills

•Experience of successfully delivering development projects in a commercial, ideally financial services environment

•Experience of Client Server, ADM1 & ADM2 SmartObjects, Progress Database Administration. (Webspeed, Javascript and HTML experience would be advantageous)

•Experience with source control management systems (knowledge of Team Foundation Server would be an advantage)

•Good working knowledge of Windows platform

•The ability to work under pressure and deliver to changing business demands


• Scrum/Agile Methodologies

• Experience of using TFS
