Description

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of procurement practices, including the role of technology, innovative sourcing processes and contract & supplier management.

  • Member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar preferred
  • Proven experience in a procurement management role, preferably in a professional services environment with understanding of the likely supply chain
  • Contract management and supplier management experience
  • Computer literate, especially Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail, highly analytical and strong commercial acumen
  • Strongly customer-focused, used to providing support to exacting users

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Procurement & Contracts Manager to manage a range of procurement activities including the management of tenders from initiation through to contract for a range of existing renewals and new services, facilities equipment, IT equipment, software, training, insurance etc.

The individual will

  • Be commercially focused, being able to quickly understand how suppliers impact business performance
  • Develop and deliver new improved procurement strategies across the varied channels of purchasing within Support Services (central and regional)
  • Follow policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation
  • Seek out opportunities for savings on existing agreements, centrally and regionally
  • Review and develop processes for supply chain management standardising on approach to procurement
  • Be confident with supplier negotiations, ensuring outcomes meet the requirements for our business focusing on contract terms, cost effective solutions, quality & compliance standards, delivery terms
  • Enhance procurement methods, improve onboarding of new suppliers and work with the existing supplier base to deliver best value across the portfolio, by developing a purchasing toolkit and mentoring Support Services staff in their procurement activities
  • Provide management reports and key performance data through the development of policies and procedures for collecting and reporting key metrics, cost analysis and benchmarking
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on purchasing activities

Skills

  • Commercially minded, strong procurement background, with proven experience of working as a procurement manager
  • Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels
  • Commercially and financially aware with experience of managing budgets
  • Ability to work within high pressure environments
  • Ability to collect and compile management information requirements
  • Experience in producing project progress reporting for senior management in the form of summaries and dashboards
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident individual with the good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels and communicate to users in a clear, non-technical language

  • Analytically minded, able to break down and understand information
  • Must be comfortable with working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment
  • Good organisational skills, used to managing and prioritising own workload
