DESCRIPTION:

Working for a major, technology led organisation that facilitates in the management and control of financial information for their end clients; with the sole purpose of behavioural reporting, statistical analysis, management of third party information and finally successful financial delivery.

You will be working in a small team of analysts and together you will provide a 24/7 service of application monitoring and maintenance for various business critical applications. You will monitor applications to ensure that key processes are running efficiently and correctly, maintaining team documentation for applications and known issues. You will spend time replicating issues, finding and reporting bugs or compatibility issues back to the development team or infrastructure team. You will use your advanced skills in scripting and coding to provide deeper analysis of code to facilitate a quick turn-around for fixes to issues. You will liaise with stakeholders in IT Service Management, key business areas and other areas of IT to report and resolve issues and incidents as appropriate providing information on root cause for issues and incidents and recommend improvements, fixes and workarounds, documenting these as appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide application support for business applications to their agreed SLAs
  • You will use the Service Desk application to track support tasks and investigations
  • You will investigate issues and perform maintenance tasks ensuring the agreed availability of a variety of applications and you will be expected to carry out efficient triage and follow escalation processes appropriately
  • You will proactively monitor applications and services to ensure smooth running (e.g. monitoring performance trends) and advise on preventative actions that may be required
  • Technical communication skills are vital to this role as you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders and customers,
  • You and the rest of the team will provide out of hours and on-call support on a rota basis
  • You will support the transitioning of projects into BAU application support, documenting processes and knowledge sharing as needed
  • Any other duties commensurate with the post

EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a development or support environment
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines and to a high quality
  • Experience of software development principles
  • Experience of working with & troubleshooting applications written in any of these languages
  • SQL, .Net, MQ, Open Edge/Progress, Java

Desirable: 

  • Previous experience of working in the financial services sector
  • ITIL
